Hee is a link to a podcast I did a while ago. It’s called:

“Consistency Builds Association Which Leads To Anticipation”

Let me know what you think. I’m considering starting a weekly podcast.

I enjoyed the podcast and would definitely listen weekly.

      • Thanks for the feedback Jason. I’m thinking I might have people pick the topic. Might be interesting.

Great information in the podcast. I would also keep listening. Do you use the same idea with the flush cue? Do you manage the anticipation of the dog by not letting it flush every bird it points?

      • Great question Brian. I want to reward with the flush every time but here is what I do to manage the energy. First, I vary the timing of the verbal cue (alright). Once the dog is done managing the bird and he has it set, I might give him the cue right away, or I may wait a few seconds. In addition, after I give the flush stop cue, sometimes I don’t shoot the flushed bird. I’ll wait till it lands and we’ll go work it again. This is outstanding practice to help a dog learn patience and control. Takes steadiness to a whole new level.
